Win a Spanish Wine Party Pack from Tapeña Wines & the Ancient Fire Wine Blog

The Ancient Fire Wine Blog is teaming up with Tapeña Wines to give away a Spanish Wine Party Pack to one lucky reader. The Party Pack includes wine, charms, a corkscrew and other goodies. How exiciting!

Tapeña Wines is a new take on Spanish wine combining socializing, food and Spanish style to create a line of wines that are valued priced and ready to drink. Tapeña produces four styles of wine covering wine lovers of many stripes with Tempranillo, Garnacha, Verdejo and Rose. I know I’ve had the Tapeña Temrapnillo in the past, but sadly I can’t recall my impressions. My take on reading the producer notes is that the wines are dry with a focus on balance and long, clean finishes.

With food and entertaining in mind the Tapeña Wines blog contains weekly updates of recipes, pairing ideas and style tips. While Tapas is one of the inspirations for the wines, many dishes can be successfully paired with them, and specifically a range of seafood dishes. Recent Thanksgiving themed posts are a peek into the breadth of Spanish wines when pairing them with food.

I need to win this! :) I'd love to entertain with Tapena wines. My dinner parties are usually done tapas style. I's bring out items progressively to pair with the appropriate wine.

We just returned from a trip to Madrid to visit my husband's family. We had a great time and sampled tapas in restaurants, bars, and in homes. We even went to a wedding in Seville where the dinner was all Andaluz style tapas. I took notes on all of it, asked for recipes and noted the ingredients. We would love to host a party for all our friends and family here to try a taste of Spain along with Tapena wines, too. We would serve old favorites, new dishes we discovered and also some family secrets!

I'm guessing saying I would drink them alone while watching an episode of Modern Family is not an appropriate answer? ;-) In all seriousness, I'd probably whip up some homemade tapas, but would probably stash one bottle for myself for a random Wednesday night. A girl can be a little selfish.

Unrelated, have you tried Woodchuck's Barrel Select? I thought about you since we were just talking about cider. I saw it at my local liquor store the other day and since I we were all giving their products such a hard time I thought I would try them. I was actually pleasantly surprised. Will it replace Crispin, definitely not, but much better than their usual varieties. It had a lot more nuance to it.

I would start with looking up some interesting tapas recipes, setting the atmosphere with good music, set up several serving stations with a bottle of the Tapena wine and a little nibble (olives, marcona almonds). That way everyone moves around the room, not just stuck in the same spot. Invite old and new friends and introduce them to each dish and wine.

I will be honest...I have NEVER made Tapas before but I received a Tapas recipe book awhile ago and would love to put it to good use. If I win this party pack I will bust out that book and make a few Tapas to pair nicely with Tapena wines. Cheers!

Have to agree with the others and say that Tapas would totally be the way to go...gives folks the chance to mix and match some of the pairings.
Of course if Jason is having us over for Paella...

Hey, Jason! I know I've fallen off the face of the earth, and it will be that way for another couple of weeks, but for now this:

A group of us always go to the opera on New Years Eve and have a dinner matched to the opera theme. This year, the opera is Carmen, set in Spain. Wouldn't it be fun to have a Spanish themed menu matched with Tapena wines??? Perhaps we'd have a series of tapas, some before the opera, some after.

I used to drink a lot of Tapena Garnacha, which is my favorite of their offerings. My favorite grocery stopped carrying it, so I sort of forgot about it. Thaks for the great reminder. I may have to switch groceries!!!!

Hugs to you. I'll be back with the program soon!
My best, Pam

I'd have people bring a dish and then blind taste the wines with each dish.
